Madhulika Sinha

Dr. Madhulika Sinha is a full-time artist, currently based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Taiwan and has in the past worked as a doctoral researcher and lecturer at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. Dr. Sinha is a self-taught artist and works primarily with watercolour, oil and acrylic mediums and has been painting actively since 2017. In a span of two years, she has produced over a thousand paintings in different mediums and has successfully exhibited some of them at various international events. She has always been passionate about arts and literature in general, pursuing it even during her doctoral studies, purely as means of comfort and relaxation following a hectic lab schedule. This, ultimately, sparked the creativity in her and helped her transition from a core scientific field towards painting and becoming a full-time artist. She believes, science is the food for the brain and art is the food for heart and soul. Her first art exhibition was in 2018 organized by Warehouse 421 art gallery in Abu Dhabi, on the occasion of “Year of Zayed” celebrations. In the past 2 years, she has participated and won several international accolades including but not limited to Fabriano in Aquarello 2020, International Watercolor Society (IWS) Hong Kong 2020, IWS India 1st Olympiart Exhibition 2019, Tbilisi watercolour festival by IWS Georgia 2019, Abu Rawash Art Prize 2019. IWS UAE 2019, Plein Air show for Reflections Art Fair at Al Qasba Sharjah organized by IWS UAE 2019. Dr. Sinha uses her art as a means to express emotions of human mind. She is a strong believer of the philosophy that a piece of an art is a reflection of an artist’s interpretation of the world rather than a snapshot of the materialistic elements. Nature is the main inspiration of her artworks as it embodies a perfect balance of chaos and Zen. She is a keen observer of her surroundings and translates the abstract of her experiences into artwork. She spent majority of her childhood in Jamshedpur, a small city in India, famous as the birth place of TATAs and also a planned city surrounded by mountains, rivers and wild life. Living in a city with its beautiful and serene natural backdrop, blending of colours comes naturally to her.
