Based in the Greater Pittsburgh Pennsylvania area, Kelly Penz is an artist whose work teeters on the edge of abstract and fantasy. Using acrylics and pencils as a medium, Kelly explores the inner worlds of the self. She endeavors to expose the hidden forces that we all feel calling yet cannot define. Her pieces are absorbing, layered and dynamic.Though mostly self taught, Kelly considers her brief time studying at The Maryland Institute and College of Art integral to launching her passion.Through obsessive observation and a relentless need to feel in order to understand Kelly seamlessly balances the surreal interplay of forms and color to create expansive compositions.
