My name is Noelani Mei Lee and I am an artist living in Los Angeles, California. I was born in Florida and raised in Austin, Texas. Since childhood, creative expression has been the only sort that has ever made sense to me. As I grew up, I tried on different hats. It began with drawing and sketching pictures. Then it was poetry. Storytelling. Book writing. Film directing. Songwriting. Painting. In a sense, everything I've ever tried has resonated on a deep and personal level but as a jack of all trades I've found my mind is always aflutter on its artistic journey, looking for a new way to express itself.

Painting is an art form that has always stuck with me. In times of darkness, I find it to be the easiest and most healing way to draw myself back into the light. It has always been a way to try unique styles, colour patterns, images, and techniques. When I first began my painting journey I was a teenager and had access to only three colours: acrylic red, green, and blue. I worked with what I had and found that acrylics were an excellent medium to work with--it stuck. Today, I paint primarily in acrylics and gouache. I enjoy experimenting with different types of canvas, paint, and other materials (including burlap, yarn, paper, and glitter.)

When I'm taking a break from the easel, I look forward to time with my loving friends, partner, and cats. The geek in me likes to while away time playing video games and the persistently hard worker in me prefers hours spent script supervising independent movies. Though my love and art always brings me to new places and grants me new discoveries, I will always find myself curled up at home with a messy set of brushes, an old canvas, and probably an unhealthy amount of Coca-Cola.
