I am an abstract digital photographer. My work seeks moments of awe, delight, and wonder. These moments reveal themselves when given freedom of time and space. In quiet, they emerge.
Born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, photographer Amanda Lomax grew up surrounded by the lush nature of the south. Her father is a writer and performer, and her mother is an accomplished artist and jewelry designer. Lomax holds a cum laude degree in Mass Communications from Boston University, completing coursework in Darkroom and Digital Photography.
A Washington, DC based event and portrait photographer for ten years, Lomax ultimately left the commercial field to dedicate herself to her visual art practice. She was selected as a Teaching Assistant at both the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops and Maine Media College, where she studied with renowned photographers Sam Abell, Cig Harvey, Joyce Tenneson, and Keith Carter. She currently resides in Nashville, TN, and is a graduate of the Nashville Arts and Business Council's 2018 Periscope program.
Amanda works with non-representational, digital imagery. She creates original, abstract digital photographs and prints them on non-traditional surfaces like aluminum and acrylic. Her work is curious, meditative and sublime.
